where can I find reasonable health insurance?

I am out of work and need health insurance. I got a quote through esurance for $1098 a month for individual coverage from blue cross. Can anyone recommend something a little more reasonable.

I want regular medical insurance not a “savings plan” or “reduced fee plans”

Kaiser seems to be the most reasonable. If you are on UI, there is a new law regarding COBRA – the ex-employer must pay it now.

Good luck – it might be impossible.

Call an agent that offers many forms of insurance. BCBS can be the MOST expensive for people without group plans.

You just need to find a broker to help you and don’t turn down a plan with a higher deductible JUST because it has a higher deductible. Do the math…it makes no sense to pay $2000 more a year to lower your deductible by $1000.

Where do you live. There will be different options based on your region and/or state.

Anthem BCBS is sometimes more on the expensive side. United Healthcare – Golden Rule, Aetna, and American Community are usually good and affordable options.

For health insurance, you get what you pay for. To cut that price, you need to take a steep deductible.

From the pricing, I’m assuming that either you have preexisting conditions, or that you’re over 50.

There are no shortcuts, there are no ‘bargains’, with health insurance. You probably need to sit down with a local agent, to have them help you weigh coverages and costs, to get something you can afford.

Oh, and those online price comparison sites, usually harvest your personal information, to sell it as leads to insurance agents – so expect those calls to start coming.

Wow that is really expensive. I would suggest looking for a smaller insurance company that deals with students, single parents, or small businesses. They might have more experience with people who have a hard time affording health care for themselves.

There are as many policies as types of people, that is how insurance companies are able to reach such a large audience. Keep talking, negotiate, and hopefully something will come along soon!

That sounds really high for health insurance. Shop around for different quotes and get some insurance advice http://www.freeinsuranceadvice.com/health-insurance to find out how much coverage you actually need.

If you are in Washington State, you can compare rates on real insurance plans at http://www.eQuoteAssist.com. Catastrophic plans start as low as $50 per person.
