The recent debate about healthcare reform has included an unexpected voice in a growing group of those without health insurance – young Americans. The number of young adults in the 18-29 age group without health insurance is growing. These include young adults who don’t have insurance due to unemployment or restrictive way times for insurance from employers. short term health insurance can be a great way for these young Americans to protect against high medical costs.Being in college, working in unpaid internships or even being employed as a contract worker can result in a lack of available healthcare options for many young people. Short term insurance is often the safest way to guarantee medical coverage in case of emergency.Depending on the plan, traditional insurance offerings vary in the costs and fees associated with them. Employer-sponsored plans are typically paid for on a monthly basis, and the cost is deducted directly from the insured person’s paycheck.Individual plans are available for those who are not employed; however, these are often quite expensive and more limited in coverage available. As a result, these can be an expensive option for a student struggling with bills.A Short term insurance plan can be a great alternative to the expensive premiums and high deductibles found in individual plans. Short term plans are typically purchased for a shorter periods of time and don’t require an employer for sponsorship. The costs are paid for exclusively by the insured person; however, they are often lower than paying for a traditional long-term health insurance plan.Young people should realize that health insurance coverage is just as important for them as is it is for their parents. short term health insurance is an effective way to manage health costs and medical care, whether someone has been injured in an accident or illness.Research several different companies offering short term health insurance plans to find the one that offers the most financially beneficial plan for your needs. I am about to quit my job and move out of state. I want to get health insurance temporarily until I find a new job. I’ve tried doing research online, but can’t find anything useful. What is a best, but good health insurance plan I can go on temporarily?

Best answer:

Answer by jchg
Very often the state department has a program for individuals of no are low income. You might want to check with your local social service department and get more information. You also may want to inquire with the state that you are moving to. I believe the program is called (SLH) State and Local Hospitalization.

Hope all goes well for you, happy moving.

Although I believe that everybody should have access to medical coverage, I noticed that in the specifics, it stipulates that the uninsured will be subject to a 2.5% tax on their income as a penalty for not having health insurance. The unemployed are having a hard enough time paying their bills, many could never afford the added cost of health insurance.

My husband belongs to a labor union and is required to work a mininum number of hours every month to be eligible for health insurance. During the winter months we often find ourselves without health insurance because his job is primarily seasonal. That hasn’t been a problem, we just schedule our annual check-ups during the months that he is working. We have had one emergency arise in the past 8 years that required a visit to the emergency room when he was uninsured. We happily paid for this bill, yes it was expensive, but no where near what it would have cost for us to carry private insurance or pay for COBRA over the course of 8 years.

Our children are covered during the winter months through a subsidy insurance plan provided by our state that covers all children whose parents make less than $65k/year. The premium is $15 a month. However, this plan doesn’t cover adults, and our annual income also puts us just above the maximum income that is eligible for medicaid.

Specifically, my question is: won’t this policy put quite a few people in a more difficult situation than they already find themselves in?
I should have specified that I am referring to the 2.5% tax on income for the uninsured in the proposed federal health care reform bill.

So I am running low on my contact lenses which I was able to get filled just before the year ran out at my eye doctor and (I didn’t need to get an updated prescription at that point). However, since then I have lost my job and in turn have no health insurance. I don’t have enough money to get insurance and I also don’t have enough money at the moment (rent/food/utilities/student loans/car insurance/etc) to pay for a visit to the doctor and also pay for the lenses and fees and air and whatever other charges they are going to charge me.

Unfortunately I owe a lot of people money already because of recent car trouble and other doctors visits.
I’m a mess! And soon I will be blind!

Does anyone have any advice or suggestions?

My mother is 55 and unemployed. She does not have a disability. She has several pre-existing conditions. I don’t think she is going to find a job any time soon. She has about $20k saved, but she is going through it quickly because of living costs and medical expenses. I predict she’ll have nothing in 18 months to 2 years. She was recently on Adult Basic’s waiting list for low-cost insurance, but the costs have been raised and she can no longer afford it. Currently she has no insurance, which is dangerous for her and my family. I haven’t found many answers for what to do for her. Any thoughts?

cann’t you see that socialism is a good thing. we’ve been brainwashed by the media and our education system to fear socialism. it’s not us poor and oppressed that have anything to fear from socialism. it’s the rich who have something to fear, that they will no longer be allowed to rape the workers, that they could no longer charge whatever price they feel like for our necessities such as gasoline and medicine, that they could no longer get as rich as they want at the expence of everyone else ! how bad do things have to get before you realize that capitalism is not in your best interest? the media always talks about how bad things are in cuba, and we’re supposed to blame socialism. the fact is that the rest of latin america is capitalist and if you compare cuba to the rest of latin america, cubans (except for the rich cubans) have it the best. they hjave the highest lfe expectancy in latin america, by far the lowest rate of malnutrition, it’s the only latin american country where the common people hace access to health care and education, capitalism has had plenty of opportunity to fix these problems but they haven’t ! that’s because the rich don’t give a damn ! when will you realize that. the rich don’t even care if you die from lack of health care, as long as they make their money. so why do the poor folks of america stand up for the rights of the rich, with their free enterprize and private property. it doesn’t benefit you ! it oppresses you ! are you happy working 2 or 3 jobs just to make ends meet? wouldn’t you rather spend the time with your family? wouldn’t you like the freedom of knowing that even if you lost your job, you and your family wouldn’t just starve to death, or go homeless? wake up american workers! up until now you’ve had it pretty good compared to the rest of the world. but all that’s about to change ! this is the day of the WTO , NAFTA, the IMF, etc… the american worker is no longer needed! the capitalists have no reason to try to keep you happy anymore! the hammer is about to come down on you. and if you try to stop it you will be labled as a terrorist and prosecuted under the patriot act.
budleit; look it up for yourself. the stats are undeniable ! compared to the rest of latin america, cubans have the highest life expectancy! cuba is the only latin american country where malnutrition is not an issue ! its the only country where everyone has access to health care ! cuba is the onlly latin american country where everyone has access to an education! cuba produces more doctors per capita than any other nation ! cuba is the best!

I am about to no longer be eligible for insurance under my parents’ health plan, but I need to be covered, especially for medications and mental health. I have had sever bouts of depression and other mental health issues that make it tough to work full time at the moment, and medications cost a lot even with good insurance coverage.

So how do I find insurance now? I’m concerned that I won’t qualify for purchasing a new policy because of ” pre-existing conditions”. I know a person needs to have been working with a company a while before qualifying for benefits there. And I don’t know that I’m in a bad enough place in terms of health that I’d qualify for overage dependent coverage.

How can I find health insurance? Any serious advice or stories about your personal experience will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Will he get insurance now? Will anyone who is unemployed get it? I believe this Health Care Reform to be a mistake with long term serious financial consequences for the nation. However, I do believe that a man who fought for this country (2 tours in vietnam), raised 4 kids and helped to put them through school, paid his taxes and flew his flag proudly deserves to be able to go to the doctor and not bankrupt his retirement savings.
Nice, so if he’s unemployed, he will be fined if he has no health insurance? So basically, Obamas plan is to have people in this situation bankrupt themselves and then go on medicaid. Great Plan… First step in wealth re-distribution folks. Who needs reparations when you have Gov’t Welfare Obamastyle.
