Dental benefits and eye care are also included in health insurance.

2. Life insurance – This policy takes care of your family in your absence. You can choose this policy depending on the needs of your household. It should be remembered that this policy replaces an income and it is best to shop around before settling for a particular policy. However, if you do not have dependents and if you are young then opting for this policy may not make much sense unless you want an additional income to pay your mortgage loans and other debts.

3. Property insurance – Property insurance provides you coverage against any losses incurred in regards to your property because of natural calamities like flood, earthquake etc, and other unavoidable situations like theft or burglary, fire and so on.

4. Auto insurance – Auto insurance has been made mandatory in most of the states. It mainly serves two purposes.

  • It insures liabilities you have toward other people.
  • It insures you against damages caused to your car by others.

 

5. Disability insurance – This policy provides coverage on your disability. Disability caused due to any accident or injury. If you are rendered unable to earn your livelihood due to any accident or poor health, your income is replaced by the money from this policy.

6. Business insurance – This type of policy provides financial coverage mainly for businesses. This reduces the risk involved in your business. It protects you and your employees too against thefts, accidents, lawsuits and any other kinds of damages.

There are various other kinds of policies available which provide you coverage on travel, professional liability, accidents, art, boat, buildings, pet, hotel, jewelry, legal expenses, office, tradesman, wedding and many more.

It is better to buy an insurance policy only after identifying your specific requirements. Now, insurance policies can also be bought online. Prior to selecting any particular type of policy, it is important for you to shop around for the different types of policy.
