Health insurance for my husband and me?

My husband is from abroad and he works here in the US. He has health insurance in his country, but neither he nor I have health insurance right now here. I am currently unemployed.

We were wondering what insurance company would you recommend for us? We are in good health, have no pre-existing conditions, we don’t have kids and I am not currently pregnant. We also live in Cleveland, Ohio and he is 28 and I am 27.

Thanks for your help.

Mass Health Reform Law-Have to Pay Back State?

I was starting to fill out the Mass form to get health insurance (unemployed, looking for work) which is a law now. I saw that it said that if you are awarded money because of accident the state can take some of it. And if you are 55 or older and die the state can get money from your estate. Why? This doesn’t happen with regular insurance or welfare, does it? I’m not 55 yet, but still…I don’t understand why the state is making me pay for something that will benefit it. Also you have to notify within 10 days after your income changes. What if I get a job with the temp agency and then it ends and something else comes up? I can’t find this info online anywhere, so if anyone else in Mass has any answers, I’d be grateful.
Of course I know that they are greedy. I just don’t understand how this law could have been passed with these rules.
And I only signed up because it was a law. I wouldn’t call fining me $150 a month starting in 2008 something that benefits me.

i am recently unemployed. i pay my own for health insurance, but need help with the paying what they dont?

How do I treat my Oral Thrush without any health insurance?

I think I’ve had Oral Thrush on my tongue and the roof of my mouth for about six weeks now, since I initially developed a viral bronchitus that developed into a secondary bacterial infection in my sinuses. I typically see dr.s in a free community clinic. And I sometimes visit my primary clinic but now have to pay $50 fee each time since I do not have state funded health insurance yet b/c I’m still unemployed. I applied for the state health insurance two months ago but it takes forever. Anyway, do I waste my time at the free clinic again where a dr. there (I never see the same one twice b/c they rotate so often) about a treatment? Or do I spend another $50 just to see an ENT (who knows if I have to wait another 4 weeks to get an appt. either) to get a treatment for my Oral Thrush. I am scared it will spread down my throat to my lungs if I wait any longer. I did call my clinic’s afterhours primary care line. A nurse told me to swab dish soap and baking soda on the Thrush. Please help!
Thanks for the yogurt tip. I’m already eating live active culture Yoplait yogurt.

The dish soap and baking soda dr. remedy did nothing for my tongue thrush.

How can we get assistance to pay for mental health treatment? No job, no money, no health insurance.?

I believe that someone close to me needs treatment for a mental health disorder. He’s been unemployed for almost five years and has no health insurance. Can anyone point me toward programs that might help him (and us) pay for doctors appointments and treatment? Any assistance is greatly appreciated!

Is tying health insurance to employment bad for capitalism?

….because many people take a job not based so much on salary, but if it offers great health insurance, which might be unaffordable on the private market with a pre-existing condition and even after giving up any luxuries, like rent and food and clothing. (note: not every person who can’t afford private health insurance is unemployed, and not every person who can’t afford private health insurance is blowing his money on gambling junkets to Vegas, new computers, fancy cars, etc.) . Here’s what I don’t understand, we Americans have become so accustomed to getting our insurance through our employer that we often don’t know the real cost of health care until we are out of a job! What if a person wants to work freelance or work two part-time jobs or start his own small business, doesn’t this system hobble us in that regard? A person stays chained to an employer because he needs the benefits. Why do we hold on to this system when it stifles self employment, job variety and the creation of small businesses? We don’t rely on employers for car insurance, renter’s insurance, pet insurance, etc., why health insurance? What if we did like capitalist, democratic Australia or Switzerland instead?
….why do people work at burger joints, shopping malls, etc.? Gee, maybe because that’s all they could get, especially when you now have an unemployment rate higher than Britain’s and France’s!!! Or, maybe that waitress is married to a man who has a job with benefits that extend to her. What an asinine statement…many of those people probably wish they could find a job with benefits, but couldn’t and took what they could get to survive. America is supposed to be about individuality, self starting and pioneering, but how is that so if you’re chained to an employer and you can’t break out on your own as you can in *CAPITALIST* AND *DEMOCRATIC* Switzerland and Australia?
